"George Clinton arguably invented funk. Having spent the past six decades writing, recording, and revolutionizing music with his bands Parliament and Funkadelic, Clinton has produced more than 40 hit singles. His profound influence began to manifest itself in the 1990s, with funky rock acts like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Primus emerging and hip-hop acts like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, De La Soul, and LL Cool J rapping over the rhythms he created.
George Clinton’s songs have been sampled more than 2,000 times, making him one of the most sampled artists of all-time. His recent collaborations with Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar prove that his influence has no expiration date.
In this first edition of the Berklee Online LIVE: Songwriting series, George Clinton chats with Pat Healy about sampling, staying busy, and how seriously he takes the songs he writes." - Berklee
